I am sorry to inform you of my beloved husband's death on November 28, 2017. Riley had good memories of his time at Taft HS and enjoyed the last reunion he attended. His death from a tear in the aorta was both sudden and unexpected.

I am so sorry to hear about Riley's sudden death! I enjoyed seeing him and his wife at the 50th reunion, where we talked about our RV experiences across the country. He was my first "boyfriend" (as I recall), and a true, caring friend. His parents were always so nice to me. I loved that he was so tall, and a good dancer. My deepest sympathy to his family. I'm so sorry to hear of Riley's passing.  He was such a dear guy.  At our 50th reunion, he was telling me all about how he and his wife traveled the U.S. in their RV and were having a ball.  He turned around and pointed her out to me, so we waved to each other.  He still had that happy-go-lucky attitude I remember so well.  During our high school days, it was a short walk from my house to his---he lived on the other side of Calvert Street School from me.  I was at his place one day and his father Ralph came in to tell him something.  At that time, Dr. Richardson was president of the Board of Education.

Marjorie, thank you for letting us know this very sad news.  Riley was a great friend to so many of us.

Riley was one of the people in our carpool from the Valley to UCLA in 1962-3.  The carpool, at various times, consisted of Riley, myself, the Phillips brothers, and Sigma Alpha.  Riley's one notable driving episode was getting a speeding ticket on Roscamere Rd. for doing 30 in a 25 mph zone on the way to UCLA.  Then, on the same day, going back to the Valley from UCLA on a parallel street he got a ticket for impeding traffic doing 25 in a 25 mph zone.  In court (we all had to go to court for moving violations in those days), Riley asked the Judge what he was supposed to do.  The judge (according to Riley) said, "If you can't figure it out, neither can I.", and dismissed the tickets.  We exchanged e-mails about this a couple of months ago, so I was greatly saddened to learn of his demise.  I had hoped we would be able to get together to discuss the antics the members of the carpool had engaged in as adolescents.
