Richard Russo Obituary

December 12, 1944 - February 29, 2024 Richard ("Dick") Charles Russo passed away peacefully at 2:20 AM on February 29, 2024 at the age of 79. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and brother, and a true friend for so many. Born to be a teacher, he was a decades-long elementary school teacher dedicated to his students. A lifelong LA resident with gambler's luck and a passion for life, he was a gifted musician, an accomplished photographer, and an avid reader. He could be found touring the West Coast on his big Harley-pony, rafting the Colorado River with friends, riding the waves at Leo Carrillo or Zuma, or simply sitting on the beach under his umbrella strumming his guitar in a solitary way. He is survived by his daughter Michelle Langley, son-in-law Gary Langley, grandsons Tyler and Zeth Langley, his brother Kurt Russo and sister-in-law Stephanie Russo. Well done, faithful one.

I am so,sorry to hear about Dick's passing.  He was my friend, and neighbor.  We walked to the bus together every morning , and home from the bus after school, as well as just spending time together occasionally  in the afternoon. Rest in peace my friend, you will be missed.

I have such fond memories of Dick since we first met in the 6th grade at Nestle Ave. Elementary School.  In the hot summer days we spent many days swimming to cool off and even started a lawn mowing business together.  We will truely miss Dick's great smile and fun nature.  My best to his family.

So sorry to hear of Dick's passing. I knew him at Nestle Ave School also, and he was a good friend all through school. Like Bill Dutton, I remember him swimming with Debbie , Bill, and myself in the Dutton's pool. My condolences to his family.

Oh yes, I also met Dick at Nestle Ave... it is so hard to hear about the loss of someone who always remembered events from when we were children...in the Valley...in the sweet days of the 50's!  Peace and love to you dear Dick.  PAMELA Martin Ruehrdanz
