Yes! Attending Reunion
Residing In: Plymouth, MN USA
Occupation: Retired
Children: Carol 1966, Michele 1969

I have been living in Minneapolis since 1977. I worked as a service rep for the phone company for a few years until a car accident forced me to leave before retirement. After I had recovered to the point that I could do a few things, I traveled the country for 5 years with a group of coin and jewelry buyers. You may have seen a two page ad asking to bring in your old coins and jewelry for cash. That was us.
I also became a Certified Massage Therapist as I had had several injuries in my accident and knew exactly where people needed help and how to do that. I could feel their pain and that was very helpful to my clients.
Music has always been in my life and after my divorce in 1980, I took up singing again, taking part in various talent contests in the minneapolis area.
I also love traveling and my last trip was to Greece, Turkey and Paris. Of course I do take a lot of trips back to California to see my brother and sister. He lives in Valencia and she is in Sacramento. My brother flies for American Airlines so I am very lucky to be able to fly for free. Yeah I have also taken a few cruises to Alaska and warm weather islands. This summer (2014) I am going to England with my brother and sister. We have just found out about all our new relatives in England and are going to meet them after Facebooking them for the last 2 years.
I have reconnected with a few of my classmates and am having a good time talking with them and emailing with them. There is nothing like old friends. Anyone who wants to reconnect with me is more than welcome. I hope to hear from some of you soon.

I played violin at Taft high school for Mr. Delwarte  and I also was one of the four banner carriers for the West Valley youth  band.  I think that was the name of it.  He was also the leader of that band. I remember how he used to take such good care of us when we would go and play for some function. One time, it was early in the morning in Pasadena and it was cold and the four of us were shivering  so he went up and down the street looking for a car that was not locked. When he found one he told us to get in and stay warm until it was time to start. I was a little nervous that the owner would come back to the car and find us and not be too happy about it.

Another time, I told him I wanted to learn to play an instrument  where I could play in the band, as I had a crush on one of the band members. He picked up a flute and said, here take this home and figure it out. I did, and a couple of weeks later I marched with the band. However, playing the flute and marching made me hyperventilate till I thought I was going to pass out. That was the end of my band experience.

After six years of playing violin I gave it up after high school but I kept my violin in my office all these years and every time I looked at it, I remembered Mr. Delwarte and smiled for all the happy times we had.                       Last year I finally gave it to a little girl who wanted to learn to play but her parents could not afford to buy one.

Me Delwarte,  you will always be in my heart. RIP  ??

Hey John, I hope you have a wonderful birthday and am enjoying life And am happy and healthy. I see you’re not much of a classmates person and don’t respond to any messages, but I hope that you did get in touch with Mickey Cates. It’s OK that you aren’t into this site and I am not much either, but I do like to recognize peoples birthdays even if I didn’t know them very well. To each his own. Right? ??

I have written you two messages in the last couple of months on your private page and I know I’m not doing the right thing to get them to you. I just wrote one today about 10 minutes ago and I can’t see that it went through please let me know If you received it. This site is too much for an old lady to comprehend. Maybe you could give me an email address that would work out better.

Happy birthday, Mr. Delwarte. I have so many fond memories of you. I played 1st violin with Irene Dohney and she and I played in the Los Angeles Junior Philharmonic together at your suggestion. I remember one time I told you I wanted to be in the band because I had a crush on a trumpet player. You were holding a flute so you said here take this, so I did and I learned a couple of pieces, But oh my goodness I thought I was going to pass out on the field. So much for my flute playing days. I talk to Russ Kidd at times as we were in the same class of 62 and he keeps me up-to-date on you, so you better be good. Ya hear? LOL.

Does anyone know how he died and What is SSDI?  We were friends and one night there was a small party and we all jumped the Warner Brothers fence and went on one of the Mexican sets.  Pat sang to us and we all had the best time just goofing around. I had just called my mother to say that I'd be home in 15 minutes and then decided to go with the group.    Mom was just sitting at the dining room table giving me a harsh look.  I was only 3 hours late.Oops.  I think that was the worst thing I ever did in HS.  Boy, was I boring or what?  David, you are right.  He was handsome and such a nice polite guy. Do you know anything about if his record deal ever went anywhere?

Thanks for that information, Russell. I doubt that he will remember me if he is having memory problems. I know what that's like. My kids tell me stories about when they were younger and I honestly cannot remember and they are shocked that I don't. LOL It happens to the best of us, they say. In fact, I can't remember about your gigs. What are you doing these days to pay the bills? I think I remember that you have another non musical part time job. Right? Well, today is Xmas and because of the ice storm, we are told not to travel unless absolutely necessary. We were going to go to my youngest daughter's (Michele) new house, but it's out in the boonies so the roads will not get any salt. It is very icy and 94 is closed a little north of me because of accidents and she lives north as well. It's such a shame as my great grandson Jayden who will be 9 in Feb has to wait for mine and Michele's gifts. Hopefully, I will have him and his little sister Naomi or Nomi as we call her this coming week for an overnight stay. Maybe just Jayden as she will be 2 in Feb and that would leave their dad all alone which he hates, and I don't blame him.I have a lot of food that I bought for our dinner and hopefully it all will survive the freezer for at least 2 weeks which will be the next time we all can get together. They all have crazy schedules. What do you do on Christmas?

Really really cold doesn't come close, Russell.. actually today it's 34, Time to bring out the summer wardrobe. LOL. It's really true that once you have a severe cold spell, 40° feels warm, so you'll see people outside without their winter coats...Merry Christmas to you too.
BTW Is Mr. Dell weren't able to answer his messages? I wrote to him on his birthday and then I saw that I had written to him before but have never received a response.

Happy birthday Russell. I hope it's a great one except it's late in the evening and it's probably already gone by, maybe. Knowing what a party Animal you are you're probably still out celebrating. LOL take care Russell

Happy birthday Mr. Dellwarte. My maiden name is Jan Tauber. I played violin and sat next to Irene Doheny. I don't know if that rings a bell but I also was a banner carrier for the West Valley band. I remember once we all went out for a performance and it was cold and the four of us that carried the banners were cold so you found a parked car that was unlocked and told us to get in and stay warm. I remember another time I told you I wanted to be in the band and just between you and me I had a crush on one of the trumpet players. His name was Bill Frazier.
So I wanted to be in the band. Anyway you picked up a flute gave it to me and said go learn that. I only played it once with the band but I got so dizzy, I quit. I hope you have the best birthday yet and I really do think of you often because I still have that violin, although it's in pieces from being dropped,, but it still sits in my office where I can see it and I always think of you fondly whenever I see it.
